Madison County Sheriff David Harper reports that on Friday, June 30, Captain Lauth was contacted by the United States Marshals Service in reference to the possible location of a wanted fugitive being in Madison. Captain Lauth and his special investigative unit were able to research and confirm the information and the subject was located at the Corinth Church Thrift Store in Lee.
The subject was identified as Charles Wayne Walls, a white male with a date of birth of Dec. 28, 1980 and currently residing at 178 SE Carney Way, in Lee. The 15th Judicial District Court, Parish of Lafayette, State of Louisiana had issued an arrest warrant for Walls with the charges of first-degree rape; victim under 13 years of age and indecent behavior with juveniles. Captain Lauth confirmed extradition and Walls was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Madison County Jail. Walls has since signed extradition and is being transported to the State of Louisiana to face his charges.
Sheriff Harper commends the law enforcement partnerships that the Madison County Sheriff’s Office personnel have with all agencies, even those across state lines, and the network of sharing information to bring fugitives to justice.
