The Madison Kiwanis Club started the month of March off with a flurry of activity, providing readers to all of the county's elementary schools. The youngsters enjoyed the many animated readings of Dr. Seuss classics. Kiwanians and other volunteers helped students celebrate National Read Across America Day on Thursday, March 2, which is Seuss' birthday. His memorable rhymes and stories continue to help kids improve their reading skills, just as they have for decades.
Also, Kiwanis members adopted Pickle Lane as their portion of Clean Up Madison County, which took place on Saturday, March 4. This annual event does much to restore the natural beauty of Madison County, as volunteers canvas the roadways to gather trash that has been thrown thoughtlessly on to the roadsides.
