This was fueled by the release of “Easy Rider” in 1969 and the arrival of Evel Knievel on the national stage in 1967, when the stuntman attempted to jump the fountains at Ceasar’s Palace, in Las Vegas, Nev. For Knievel, the jump was a vague memory because it was a massive failure. After a horrible c
