The Madison Police Department (MPD) is still looking for information and leads in a shooting that took place on Friday, July 28. The shooting took place west of the McDonald’s restaurant located on East Base Street, in Madison. According to the MPD’s preliminary investigation, a verbal altercation occurred inside McDonald’s restaurant. This verbal altercation continued out into the parking lot until two vehicles containing the persons involved exited, driving towards the west. The vehicles came to a stop on the driveway/entranceway at South Duval Avenue. Numerous witnesses reported that after the vehicles came to a stop, an estimated 20 to 40 rounds were discharged. The two vehicles involved, described as being a gray four-door Audi sedan and a red four-door Nissan sedan, were then observed speeding south on Duval Avenue. The MPD arrived on scene within a minute and reports simultaneously came in that two gunshot victims had just arrived at the Madison County Memorial Hospital (MCMH) emergency room. A gray color sedan was observed dropping these two individuals off.
The MPD initiated an extensive investigation, with assistance from the Madison County Sheriff’s Office and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. The two gunshot victims, who are in their early 20s, received preliminary treatment for their non-life-threatening head injuries before being transported to Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare (TMH) for additional treatment. Both victims were released from TMH later that day.
