The 35th Annual 4-H Ecology Day is right around the corner on Friday, April 10, and the community is being asked to lend a hand to make the day a success for Madison County’s third-grade students.
Hosted by Madison County 4-H, Ecology Day is a long-standing event that gives local third graders the opportunity to learn about nature, agriculture and the environment through hands on activities. The event depends heavily on volunteers who dedicate their time to guiding students, teaching lessons and keeping the day running smoothly.
Organizers are currently seeking community sponsors to help provide lunch for the volunteers. This year, organizers are expecting around 40 volunteers to help with the event. While student volunteers can bring their own lunches, volunteers spend the entire day helping with activities.
Support from local residents, businesses and organizations can make a big difference in showing appreciation for the volunteers who make the educational event happen each year.
Anyone instructed in sponsoring or helping provide lunch for volunteers is encouraged to contact the Madison County Extension Office at (850) 973-4138.
With the help of the community, Madison County 4-H hopes to continue the tradition of Ecology Day and provide a meaningful learning experience for local students.
