Any aspect of going to the dentist can be a dreaded affair unless you’re in good hands with professionals who are dedicated to giving you quality care and a good experience.
When it comes time to have your teeth cleaned, that’s what you can expect from Madison Holley, who is the dental hygienist at Shaw Dental. She has a delicate touch that makes having your teeth cleaned a great time for a nap. Also, if swishing cold water is uncomfortable, Madison has a warm cup of water at your disposal. She pays attention to the little things.
Holley came to Shaw Dental after completing her coursework at Tallahassee Community College in 2019. She enjoys the daily impact she has in her patient’s lives. “I love being able to make a difference with people's oral health and just being able to talk to people throughout the day,” said Holley. “I mean, people sit in my chair that are going through a hard time, that are expecting or that are grieving or that haven't been able to talk to anybody all day. You know, a lot of the older people live alone and don’t get out much.”
Holley is quick to point out the importance of oral health and its effect on overall well-being, especially in reducing the risks of heart disease and Alzheimer’s disease. “So, keeping your teeth really clean is important for a multitude of reasons,” says Holley, who regularly takes radiographs to check for decay or gum disease. “I also educate patients on how to take care of their teeth at home. So yeah, it's very important to see your dentist every six months if you can.”
Holley resides in her hometown of Quitman, Ga., where she enjoys spending time with friends and family and working on projects around her house. “I love to travel when I can, especially to Montana, where I visit a friend,” says Holley.
She remains grateful for the love and support of her parents, Amy and Don Holley, who don’t have to worry about her leaving the area too soon. “I love working at Shaw Dental, and all my patients are great, so I’m going to stick with it for a good while,” said Holley.
