Listen. Lead. Invest in Madison’s Future. “Will we shape growth, or will growth shape us?”
Madison County has always been a place where neighbors help neighbors, where hard work matters, and where families, farms, and local businesses form the backbone of our community. I believe our future should be built on those same values and to keep Madison what makes Madison home!
That’s exactly why I’m running for Madison County Commission.
I’m not a career politician. I’m a local entrepreneur who has spent years building businesses right here in Madison County. I’ve experienced the responsibility of making payroll, providing stable jobs, and knowing that the decisions I make affect not only my family, but the families of my employees as well. Over the years, I’ve helped create opportunities for more than 100 people and their families, and I understand the challenges and rewards of operating a brick-and-mortar business that serves our community every day.
To me, growth doesn’t start with outside corporations or special interests, growth starts at home where we protect what matters!
It starts with supporting our local businesses, protecting our family farms, and creating an environment where our children and grandchildren can find good jobs and choose to build their lives right here in Madison County. It is a responsible growth, not growth at any cost!
I believe economic growth and preserving our identity can go hand in hand. We don’t have to sell our heritage to create opportunity. We can welcome responsible growth while protecting the values and traditions that make Madison County special. Responsible growth is not data centers or solar fields! Responsible growth such as a downtown city market and a new Agricultural/All-Purpose Arena offers Madison opportunities to attract visitors who come, enjoy themselves, and return home. This type of growth allows Madison residents and its youth to develop strong work ethics. It does so through opportunities to support local businesses and farms, as well as through on-the-job training, whether paid or volunteer, where they can earn community service hours, gain knowledge, and build essential life skills.
Running a successful business has taught me valuable lessons that translate directly into public service. I understand budgeting, managing employees, managing equipment, building relationships, reducing unnecessary costs, finding efficient solutions, and making smart investments that provide long-term value. Most importantly, I understand accountability because every decision carries real consequences for real people.
I believe county government should operate with the same principles that make a successful business thrive: honesty, responsibility, transparency, and a commitment to serving the people who make it possible.
Humbly, one verse has always resonated with me as a model for leadership. James 1:19 tells us:
“Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry.”
I believe that is exactly the kind of leadership Madison County deserves. A commissioner should listen before making decisions, seek understanding before judgment, and work to bring people together rather than divide them. My goal isn’t simply to hold an office.
My goal is to be an effective leader who listens to our citizens and works every day to strengthen our community. I've always believed that a hand up is better than a handout. That's how I built my business, and it's the same philosophy I'll bring to county government.
As Chairman of the North Florida Pro Rodeo, I've worked with volunteers, local businesses, civic organizations, and county leaders to bring one of North Florida's premier family events to Madison County. I've also served as a Florida CDL Examiner, and on community boards because I believe serving our community means more than simply talking about it. I want Madison County to prosper while staying true to who we are. I want our businesses to grow, our farms to succeed, our families to thrive, and our young people to see a future here at home.
On Tuesday, Aug. 18, I ask you to go to the polls with confidence and support a candidate who believes in listening first and leading with purpose.
I’m Greg Vickers. I’m a local entrepreneur, a business owner, a servant to our community, and a neighbor who believes in Madison County’s future. I’m a proud husband to Brandy Bochnia Vickers and I’m a proud father to five children that we raised here in Madison and now a proud grandfather to two small children. So we are back to the ball fields, at award banquets, watching the steps in Becky’s downtown street dancers and more! As always, I will remain committed to staying engaged with our community and supporting events such as the North Florida Pro Rodeo.
I would consider myself honored to earn your vote for Madison County Commissioner in District 1.
