According to information from the Madison County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) on Monday, Dec. 22, during the late afternoon hours, a suspect dressed in a Santa suit was attempting to steal Christmas presents and Christmas joy during the “Candy Canes and Cookies with the Sheriff” event at Four Freedoms Park, in Madison. The suspect, later identified as T. Grinch was immediately apprehended by alert MCSO officers and taken into custody without further incident and the toys were immediately returned to the children of Madison County. The suspect, who had an odd furry, green appearance was taken to the Madison County Jail (otherwise known as the “Harper Hotel”) and booked on several counts of stealing Christmas joy and presents.
“We were surprised by the audacity of The Grinch when he showed up and tried to steal Christmas,” said Madison County Sheriff David Harper. “The MCSO does not tolerate such Christmas shenanigans!” Sheriff Harper further reported that something happened following the booking process. “Something in him began to change,” added Sheriff Harper. “He began to show sincere remorse.” It is widely believed that the suspects heart grew three sizes that day. In light of the Christmas season and because the suspect showed such sincere remorse, Sheriff Harper decided to give The Grinch a second chance and he was soon released on his own recognizances, with the sincere promise to always keep a positive Christmas spirit in his heart.
