Governor Ron DeSantis appointed Madison local, George “Tommy” Reeves, to serve as a Commissioner on the Third Circuit Judicial Nominating Commission (JNC). Reeves explained that the Commission is to meet when there is a vacancy of judges within the designated Circuit. The Commission will recommend a slated candidate to the Governor, and the Governor will decide whether or not that candidate is to fill the vacancy. Reeves also stated this judicial appointment will provide him a chance to give back to the practice of law and its community.
Reeves attended Florida State University for his Bachelor's degree, and the University of Florida College of Law for his law degree. He is a shareholder of Davis, Schnitker, Reeves and Browning law office in Madison, and serves as General Counsel to the Suwannee River Water Management District. Reeves is also Counsel to the School Board of Jefferson County, the Madison County District School Board and the Madison County Commission.
