Local anglers have an opportunity to enjoy a morning of fishing on Cherry Lake and support a great cause on Saturday, June 20. Dubbed the “Bassin’ for Jeff Benefit Bass Tournament” the event will help Madison County resident Jeff Gore, who is battling cancer. Entry for the tournament is $25 for youngsters age 11 to 15 and $50 per angler for those age 16 and older. Kids 10-years-old and younger can fish free with an adult and will receive a gift bag. Cash prizes and trophies will be awarded to first, second and third place, based on the total weight of the five biggest fish. Half of the entry fee proceeds will go toward Gore and half will be used as tournament prize money. There is a Big Fish add-on available for $10 and the winner will receive 100 percent of the proceeds of that add-on competition. There is also a 50/50 drawing planned. Competition will begin at approximately 6 to 6:15 a.m. and will conclude at 11 a.m.
Please note that Cherry Lake Boat Ramp fees are not included. For more information, please contact Scott Sweat at (850) 464-6029 or James “Chops” Bernard at (850) 973-0095.
