As Kaila Hardee and her family continue the ongoing battle with cancer, local members of the community look for ways of supporting them through this difficult time. To assist with mounting medical expenses from Kaila's cancer treatments, a local Monticello restaurant, Johnston's Meat Market, is hosting a fundraiser, giving many members of the community a great opportunity to help the family.
From now until Friday, Dec. 16, shoppers can buy high-quality smoked meats from Johnston's, with all of the profit going directly to help aid the Hardee family. To participate, either order at the Johnston's Meat Market located at 1480 W. Washington St., in Monticello, or call Brad Johnston at (850) 673-7536 or Kevin Stout at (850) 673-7362. Participants can choose from the following options:
• 5-6 lbs. Boston butt or ham
• 3.5 lbs. BBQ ribs
• 5 lbs. Smoked sausage (hot or mild) (NOT COOKED)
• 5 lbs. Smoked bacon (NOT COOKED)
Each item is $35 and will be smoked on a rotisserie for 4-5 hours. Johnston's stands by their products and guarantees the meat will be tender, flavorful, packaged and ready to go! All profits from these sales will go directly to the Hardee family to help raise funds for Kaila's cancer fight. Kaila and her husband Tommy are well-known in the Madison and Monticello communities as the proud owners of POP’S Sanitation Services, a reliable curbside garbage pick-up service that has served the Jefferson, Madison, Taylor and Suwannee Counties faithfully over the last year.
All orders must be placed by Friday, Dec. 16. Pick up for orders will be Friday, Dec. 23, between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. Orders may be picked up at either Johnston's Meat Market in Monticello, or at the Madison Four Freedoms Park Gazebo in Madison. You must specify a pick-up location at the time of your order. If there is no pick-up location specified, the default pick-up location will be Madison.
