To say the past months have been a trying time would be the understatement of all understatements. Watching and waiting on the recent election results can certainly add to anyone's anxiety level, regardless of whichever candidate a person supported. I know that there may be challenges ahead, depending on the direction the winds of change may choose to blow.
I have decided to make a choice for myself. You can call it one more "post-election vote." I have voted to choose happiness, no matter who the "hired help" in Washington happen to be. We might not be able to have everything go our way, but we have much more control over how we respond to events than many of us think we have.
Like probably most of you, I know people who just seem to see the dark cloud of negativity in almost everything. Although they may not readily admit this, I firmly feel that is a definite choice they have made. I guess some people just aren't happy unless they're miserable. I have a good friend who is like that. Not to make fun of my friend, but this guy makes "Eyore" look like "Pollyanna." One time, this friend and I, along with a couple of others went to a local Chinese buffet. When we received our fortune cookies, my friend opened his cookie and the fortune cookie was blank. I couldn't help but laugh at this seeming bad fortune. But as I thought about it, what better fortune could a person get? A blank fortune cookie could translate to say, "Your fortune is whatever you make of it, you don't need a thin strip of paper to make it for you."
So, I will actively campaign for you to vote for happiness. I promise you will gain much more from that than any politician's empty promises. After all, we are enjoying life on the "sunny" side, not the "gloomy" side.
