You can go ahead and laugh if you want, I choose to still believe in Santa. My list for Santa may have changed a great deal over the years, but I still have "faith." When you think about it, it takes a child-like faith to believe that a virgin gave birth to a baby boy who would grow up to eventually become the salvation for all mankind. It also takes a child-like faith to believe that a jolly man can fly around the world in a sleigh drawn by a team of magical reindeer. "Suffer the little children to come unto me, for such is the kingdom of Heaven." Kinda rings a bell, huh?
I admit, I haven't written a letter to Santa in many years. My "wish list" is quite a bit different these days and perhaps a bit more challenging than the latest Mattel Lone Ranger double-holster cap pistol set. Today, I would ask for health, not just for myself, but for all my friends and loved ones. That's something that we have hopefully learned not to take for granted over the past year.
Something else I would request is for people of differing opinions to learn to treat each other with respect, even in times of disagreement. I think that may turn out to be one of the most difficult to accomplish, although I think it should be the easiest.
I would ask for the children nearby and those far away to be free of fear for the future. I would wish for them to be able to simply be children. Somehow, I would love for children to have their childhood.
I would ask that every person be blessed with at least one good friend on whom they can depend. I have had many friends who could easily fall into that category. I've had other friends with whom I could visit and have a good time. Those friends are great and I do love them. But to have at least one friend with whom you can confide and who will stick with you and not abandon you when times are difficult is truly a treasure. Friends such as those are a rare treasure indeed.
I would ask that people would have love in their lives, be that the love of family, friends or the love of one special person.
I know it is a very tall order, even for Santa. But I also have faith. If it doesn't work out just right, a nice pair of boots would be nice, too; double-holster cap pistol set optional.
