Most of the time, I am content with my life the way it is. In spite of slip-ups and mistakes of the past, I am grateful for the lessons learned, even the expensive ones. Those lessons have helped mold me into the person I am today. That’s not to say there won’t be more lessons to learn; I am quite sure there will be. Hopefully, they won’t carry a price tag that is quite as high as others. I call it “the cost of tuition.”
I’m sure many folks have had the fantasy of having a “time machine” that one could use to go back and “fix” some things that may have gone wrong in the past; or rather things we might think have gone wrong. Who’s to say that “fixing” those things would not lead to another outcome that might have been worse? With that in mind, there is one event from the past that I would love to go back and revisit. I think I would like to hop in my time machine and travel back to Happytime Kindergarten, if for no other reason than to enjoy afternoon nap-time.
Even as I am writing this, it is the middle of the afternoon and I am wistfully contemplating how nice it would be to lie down with a blanket and shut my eyes while a nice person reads a story to me. I truly think it would be so nice to revisit a time when my biggest concern was whether the Spaghetti-Os would be plain, have meatballs or have little slices of hot dogs. I enjoyed all three, but if they had little slices of hot dogs, that was an extra nice treat.
Perhaps, one day, I will be at a point wherein I can once again take an afternoon nap and think more about what type of Spaghetti-Os would fill my supper bowl. Until then, I will keep dreaming about simpler things, here on the Sunny Side.
