On Tuesday, Oct. 7, the Madison Creative Arts Academy (MCAA) celebrated Fire Prevention Week with an exciting and educational visit from Madison County Fire Rescue (MCFR). Firefighters brought both fun and valuable lessons to students in grades kindergarten through fourth, teaching them the importance of fire safety and how to act in an emergency.
Students had the chance to experience the life of a firefighter firsthand. They got to blast fire hoses, operate the Jaws of Life and learn about other safety equipment, such as smoke alarms. Firefighters also walked the children through what to do in case of a fire, who to call and how to stay calm and safe during an emergency.
These lessons are especially important for younger students, helping them build awareness and confidence at an early age. Teaching fire safety basics now can make a life-saving difference later, ensuring that children know how to protect themselves and others if danger ever strikes.
Sparky sparks dance off!:

Just when everyone thought the excitement was over, Sparky the Fire Dog, MCFR’s mascot, jumped into the spotlight for a surprise dance battle. Laughter filled the air as Sparky showed off his best moves, challenging students to keep up. The playful moment quickly became a favorite memory of the day, proving that learning about safety can be both fun and unforgettable.
At the end of the presentation, every student received stickers, coloring books and their own firefighter hat to take home, a reminder of the important lessons they learned.
The MCAA extends heartfelt thanks to MCFR for their dedication to education and inspiring the community’s youth. The event truly combined learning, excitement and community spirit, making this Fire Prevention Week one to remember.
