The coronavirus is bringing America (and the world) to its knees.
School is canceled, travel is restricted, extracurricular activities are canceled, social gatherings are canceled, sports are canceled, we are restricted to our houses, we are not supposed to gather with more than 10 people, we cannot eat inside restaurants, we are not allowed to go to the beach … and the list goes on!!!
The coronavirus is killing thousands across the continent. But, even with that deadly knowledge … the actual survival rate among infected persons is actually high. Meaning, if you contract the virus, you have a higher percentage rate of survival than death. However, it is a known fact that age and prior/existing medical conditions play a role in those statistics. The elderly and people with health problems are more susceptible to death than younger, healthier individuals.
With that said, what is also slowly killing America is the downslide of the economy and the impact this is having or will have on the small businesses of America.
Americans are losing jobs by the thousands and businesses are closing nationwide.
While most people think about “big” businesses (Wal-Mart, Bath and Body Works, Victoria Secret, JC Penny, Macy’s, etc), we need to all remember our small hometown businesses. The businesses in our own hometowns. The restaurants and hometown stores that are owned by our friends and our family.
This is a desperate time. They need everyone’s support more than ever!
Quit driving to Tallahassee, Thomasville and Valdosta to shop. Go shop locally! Downtown and around town. There are numerous stores you can buy from. You can buy birthday presents, cute shoes and all of your household cleaning supplies, right here in Madison County. There are also hunting and fishing supplies, jewelry, purses, boutique clothing, monogram clothing and items, tennis shoes, socks, underwear, toys, picture frames, dinner plate sets, antique furniture and clothing, artwork, theme-related items, knick-knacks, tools, auto parts, lawn and garden items, pool supplies, automobile items, toilet paper and paper towels. Anything you might need for your self and/or for a loved one.
You don’t have to go out of town to a big box-store or order off Amazon. Support your hometown friends and help them feed their families!
So many of our hometown friends have already had to close up their businesses and/or are considering doing so. This is the time to pull together to help all our friends in time of need.
When the coronavirus is gone and life goes back to “normal” … will our hometown restaurants and businesses be able to open back up?
Only if we support them as much as they need us to!
Think about that!
