Noted election expert and voter advocate, Ion Sancho, will speak on
voter registration, voting and the impact of Florida Senate Bill 90 on
Monday, Aug. 30 at 6 p.m. in the Conference Room of the Madison County
Chamber of Commerce, located at 182 College Loop. The Madison County Democratic
Executive Committee (MCDEC) and Nu Omega Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa
Alpha Sorority, Inc. (AKA) are hosting the voter education event which
is free and open to the public.
Also on the program is Ric Gable, from Jackson County, Central Panhandle
Field Director of the FL Democratic Party. Sancho and Gable will address
questions citizens have about changes in voter registration and voter
suppression concerns.
Sancho, who has no party affiliation, served as Leon County Supervisor
of Elections for 28 years. He is universally admired for his integrity
and expertise in the elections field. He became nationally known for his
role in the Florida presidential election recount of 2000 and his
appearance in the HBO 2006 investigative documentary Hacking
Democracy. He is familiar to viewers of NPR and readers of the New
York Times, Washington Post and St. Petersburg Times. Recently, he
appeared in the 2020 documentary Kill Chain: The Cyber War on America's
Elections.
Light refreshments will be served. Attendees have an opportunity to win
