The time for early voting in the August primary is quickly approaching. Early voting is set to begin on Saturday, Aug. 8 and will continue through Saturday, Aug. 15. The hours for early voting are Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. and Saturdays and Sunday, from 7 a.m. until 3 p.m. Voting on Election Day, Tuesday, Aug. 18, will take place from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m.
Early voting sites include:
• Madison County Supervisor of Elections Office (in the back), located at 239 SW Pinckney St., in Madison
• Lee City Hall, located at 286 NE County Road 255, in Lee
• Greenville American Legion, located at 133 SW Broad Ave., in Greenville
• Pinetta Volunteer Fire Department, located at 509 NE Persimmon Dr., in Pinetta.
During early voting, voters may vote in whichever location is convenient. On Election Day, voters must vote in their assigned precinct. The assigned precinct can be found on the back of the voter identification card.
Several local races are on the ballot, including County Commission and School Board. These races include County Commission District One, with Chris O’Brian, Daniel Plain and Gregory Vickers appearing on the ballot. In the County Commission District Two race, Will Oberschlake, Tyler Shadrick and Wayne Vickers are running. For the Madison County School Board, District Five candidates include: Donnell Davis, Mike Maurice and Jonathan Mazzella. The School Board race for District One between Katie Knight and Byron Poore and the two County Commission races will be decided during the Primary Election.
All voters in Districts One, Two and Five will be able to vote in the local races, regardless of political party affiliation. All voters who are registered as either Republican or Democrat will also have the opportunity to vote in primary races for various state and federal offices.
