With most Florida students set to head back to the classroom between Monday, Aug. 11 and Thursday, Aug. 14, the back to school season is right around the corner. Along with it comes the annual back to school sales tax holiday, when certain items will be exempt from taxes. According to the Florida Department of Revenue, this year's sales tax holiday will be from Aug. 1 to 31, providing Florida consumers with the opportunity purchase necessary supplies for the season, tax-free, all month long.
Tax exempt items include learning aids and jigsaw puzzles sold for $30 or less, most school supplies for $50 or less, most clothing, footwear and accessories for $100 or less, and computers and related accessories for $1,500 or less when purchased or personal and non-commercial use. Note that the tax holiday does not apply to repairs or rentals of these items, nor to items if purchased in theme parks, entertainment complexes, airports or public lodging establishments.
If you or your child are heading back to school this season, don't miss out on this opportunity to save some funds while picking up the supplies you need. For more information on Florida's 2025 back to school tax holiday, visit floridarevenue.com/backtoschool.
