Early morning on Wednesday, March 30, Christopher Sapp, 17, of Lee, was involved in a wreck around midnight that resulted in him remaining undiscovered by his family and authorities until much later in the morning when a passing motorist spotted his truck on the roadside.
Sapp was in the truck for multiple hours with extensive injuries sustained after his truck collided with a tree and fence. He was transported to South Georgia Medical Center.
On Monday, April 4, Sapp went through a six-hour surgery to repair damage where his pelvis was fractured in seven to eight different places as well as the fractures in his right femur.
Currently at Shands Hospital in Gainesville, Sapp is making his slow recovery from the above injuries as well as multiple broken ribs, a collapsed lung and two punchered lungs.
Watching a loved one, especially a child, be in the hospital with severe injuries is difficult and the cost of the unexpected hospital bills weigh heavily on a family.
A medical expense account has been set up at Madison County Community Bank under the name of Christopher Sapp for those who wish to lend a hand in helping with the medical expenses that go into the surgeries and care required to get Sapp back onto his feet.
Anyone interested in assisting with the costs can do so by donating to the account.
