The Annual Cattlemen's Association Dinner, hosted jointly by Madison County Cattlemen and Big Bend Cattlewomen's Association, was held at King's Mill Cabin on Saturday, Feb. 11. The cold and rainy evening did not deter this wonderful group of men and women from coming together to raise money for a scholarship to be given to a Madison County student interested in agriculture. The Denim and Diamonds planning committee worked tirelessly, along with many volunteers, to put on an amazing night of great food and fun.
At 5 p.m., guests were treated to cocktails and a silent auction of items donated by businesses, farms and citizens of Madison County.
Dinner was a scrumptious prime rib dinner, will all the extras provided and prepared by Mitchell's Catering in Gilchrist County. Dessert was the famous Ms. Leslie's Cakes, from Madison.
After dinner, there was a raffle for a Franchi Affinity 3, 12 Gauge. The live auction began at 7:30 p.m., with bidding on items such as a vacation rental, a turkey hunt, a quail hunt, a custom cypress bench and a customized barn quilt.
Lauren Churchwell, of the Cattlemen's Association, said, “Our associations were overwhelmed with the generous response of the community, the farmers and those who attended the event. Thank you to everyone who came and was involved.”
