According to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), on Wednesday, June 7, at approximately 11 p.m. a 35-year-old Greenville woman was struck and killed as she walked along U.S. Hwy. 19 at South Red Padgett Rd., in Taylor County. According to the report, a sport utility vehicle (SUV), driven by a 33-year-old Perry woman was traveling south in the outside, southbound lane of U.S. Hwy 19. The Greenville woman was in the outside, southbound lane of U.S. Hwy 19, directly in the path of the SUV.
The front of the SUV collided with the pedestrian. The pedestrian traveled south and came to a final rest in the outside southbound lane of U.S. Hwy 19. The SUV came to a controlled stop, facing south in the outside, southbound lane of the highway.
The FHP was assisted by the Taylor County Sheriff's Office, the Perry Police Department, Century Ambulance, Taylor County Fire Department and the Department of Transportation.
The crash is still under investigation by the FHP.
