Although the Madison County High School (MCHS) Cowboys were not in action on Friday, Sept. 26, there was still plenty of sports action to be enjoyed, courtesy of the MCHS Cowgirls volleyball teams. The junior varsity and varsity Cowgirls hosted the Chargers, from Community Christian School, from Tallahassee. Both Cowgirl teams finished their matches with wins.
In the junior varsity match, the Cowgirls were able to take the match in two straight sets, with scores of 25-11 and 25-14. The varsity match was much more competitive . After dropping the first set, 24-26, the Cowgirls were able to rebound and win the second set, 25-19. In the third set, the Cowgirls continued to press their advantage and won the set with a 25-17 score. The fourth set was very competitive as seemingly every point was hotly contested. The Cowgirls managed to hold the Chargers at-bay and win the set, 25-21. The varsity Cowgirls won the match, 3-1.
The Cowgirls will return home for a match with the Hornets of Cook High School, from Adel, Ga., on Monday, Oct. 6. The action will begin at 5 p.m., when the junior varsity teams will take the court. Then, there will be a special ceremony to honor the seniors on the Cowgirls varsity team, followed by the varsity match between the Cowgirls and the Hornets. The match will take place in the MCHS gymnasium.
