The Madison County High School (MCHS) Cowboys seem to be hitting their stride at just about the right time. The Cowboys have had two very good performances against quality opponents in the first two rounds of the Class 1A playoffs. Two more games ahead and then the Cowboys could be in Tallahassee, playing for another state title. But first, the Cowboys will have to face probably their toughest test to date.
On Friday, Nov. 26, the Cowboys will travel west again. This time, to face the Tigers of Blountstown High School. The Tigers pose a definite challenge for the Cowboys, especially for the Cowboys' defense. The Tigers love to spread the ball around. While there's not one single player with tremendous rushing yards, there are several players. If the Cowboys load up close to the line in order to stop the run, the Tigers have a talented quarterback who can hurt you with his arm. The Cowboys will need to find a way to spend time in the Tigers' backfield to pressure the Tigers' quarterback; while closing down running lanes. Ke'Shaun Mitchell and company will need to be at the top of their game once again if the Cowboys are going to shut down the Tigers.
“[This will be] our biggest test to date,” said MCHS Head Coach Mike Coe. “[The Tigers are] very well coached and physical. [We are] gonna have to play extremely well.”
The Cowboys will play the Tigers at Blountstown High School, located at 17586 Main St. North, in Blountstown. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. Please note that Blountstown is in the Central Time Zone.
