During a ceremony in the Madison County High School (MCHS) library on Wednesday, Jan. 25, MCHS senior Parker Copeland officially signed his letter of intent to play baseball at South Georgia State College, in Douglas, Ga. During his time with the Cowboys, entering his senior season, Copeland has spent much of his time either on the pitcher's mound, at third base or occasionally, shortstop. While pitching, Copeland held an overall 2.51 earned run average (ERA), while amassing 69 strikeouts and 26 walks. Copeland held opposing batters to a .238 on-base percentage. In the batter's box, Copeland amassed a .262 batting average, with 21 RBIs and 17 runs. While at South Georgia State College, he plans to work toward a degree in sports management. Parker is the son of Walter and Jennifer Copeland.
