On the morning of Thursday, Aug. 3, the Madison Police Department was dispatched to Base Street in response to a collision near the courthouse and Four Freedoms Park. According to the report, the officers arrived at 11:15 a.m. and began creating a roadblock in order to clear the road of debris from the vehicles. The collision occurred between Chelsea Aman's black Chevy SUV and Laura Williams' gray Nissan sedan. Both drivers are Madison residents. The report noted that Williams was stopped at the intersection of Base Street and Shelby Avenue after traveling west and waiting to make a left turn when Aman rear-ended Williams' car. Aman is being held at fault due to contact with the car in front of her, and her car was also towed away because of the damage.
