On Friday, July 16, the City of Madison Water Department held a ceremony for superintendent Johnny Webb, who is retiring after 32 years of service. City employees from the water department, along with other departments, the city manager and staff from city hall were all present for the ceremony, where Webb received a plaque for his years of service.
The superintendent position oversees the entire water system. The department provides water for the prison, houses in the area, etc. The quality must be kept at a level appointed by the state, and Webb has done a great job making sure everything has been kept to state standards and in good measures with the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), as his history with this job shows.
