Every February 14, Valentine’s Day arrives wrapped in red ribbon and price tags. Stores overflow with chocolates, balloons, teddy bears and cards that declare love in shiny cursive, while restaurant reservations fill up weeks in advance. What began as a day centered on affection and connection has slowly turned into one of the most commercialized holidays of the year.
