Breakfast at my place: Shelter dogs deserve to play, and you can help make it happen!

It’s no secret I have a soft spot when it comes to animals but more specifically the ones that come through our Madison County Animal Services shelter because truthfully I’ve seen dogs and cats the day they come in, tired, scared and unsure of anyone that walks by turn into the most loving and loyal companions thanks to the love and care they receive from our amazing Animal Services team. I was so excited to hear some exciting tail-wagging news coming out of the Madison County Sheriff’s Office Animal Services this week: our furry friends are about to get the play space they deserve!
Thanks to a compassionate partnership with Fur Sisters – Furever Urs Rescue, efforts are now underway to build a large outdoor play yard for the dogs housed at our Madison County shelter. This new space will offer much-needed enrichment, exercise, and joy for the dogs while waiting for their forever homes.
Shelter dogs typically have limited time out of their kennels, but this initiative aims to change that! They’re wanting to creating a safe, secure area where these pups can stretch their legs, play, socialize, and just be dogs.
Building this play yard is no small feat, and community support is going to be vital. Fur Sisters is leading the fundraising efforts, and every dollar raised will go directly toward materials, fencing, and space upgrades. All donations are 100 percent tax deductible, and even the smallest contribution can make a huge impact.
It truly takes a village and Madison County, we know how strong ours is. Whether you’re able to donate or not, you can still help by sharing this effort on social media, spreading the word, and showing your support for these animals who depend on us.
Let’s come together to give our shelter dogs what they need and deserve: room to run, space to play and the love of a community that cares.
