In a world where people come and go, there’s something beautifully rare about the kind of friendship that stands the test of time and distance.
We all have those friends. The ones who live hours away, maybe even states apart, but still feel like they’re right beside us. You may not see each other every week anymore or even every year, but when you talk, it’s like no time has passed. They’re the ones who show up in the ways that matter, through a quick text, a phone call on a hard day, a belly laugh shared across the miles exactly when it’s needed.
When my husband was in the military, it was these friendships that got us through. There was an unsaid understanding that when our husbands were gone, we had each other’s backs and were always available for a play date, shoulder to cry on or just a real conversation over some coffee. Now that we’re all states apart, we often share texts, voice messages and phone calls about how much we just miss sitting on the couch and catching up, while our kids ran wild together.
These kind of friendships are so special. These friends become family. They remind us that connection isn’t measured in minutes or miles, but in the comfort of knowing someone truly sees you, understands you and chooses to keep showing up, no matter how far life takes you both.
So here’s to the long-distance best friends, the forever kind. The ones we’ll never outgrow, never forget and always hold close, even if they live far away. You are proof that love and loyalty travel well.
