A full day of basketball excitement is planned on Saturday, Aug. 1, when Madison County hosts the “Battle of the Counties” basketball tournament. The double-elimination tournament will feature teams of adults and former high school players from Jefferson, Lowndes, Madison and Taylor Counties. The action begins at 10 a.m. with the opening games taking place at both Madison County High School and Madison County Central School. Tickets are $10 for an all-day pass that will allow fans to watch as many of the games as they wish.
“This event is designed to bring together talented players from around the area while creating a fun, competitive atmosphere for the community,” said Madison County High School (MCHS) Head Basketball Coach Allen Demps. “We hope this event becomes an annual tradition that showcases local talent while helping support our basketball program.”
Proceeds from the tournament will help support the MCHS Cowboys basketball program cover expenses such as equipment, team camps, travel and other needs of the program.
