The Madison County Bass Club met for their annual meeting and awards ceremony on Sunday, Jan. 24. The club gives numerous members, who are passionate about fishing, the opportunity to compete and gain recognition for their catches. The club also has their fair share of youth members, who have the opportunity to compete and win the Bobby Haskell, Jr. Anglers of the Year award, which recognizes all the kids.
However, food was a necessity before any awards could be handed out and before any plans could be made. The fishermen feasted on burgers and hotdogs, with chips and a variety of sodas, sweets and treats.
The following youth were then awarded with the Bobby Haskell, Jr. Anglers of the Year award: Lucas Plain, Wyatt Bass, Trey Galbraith, Kyle Bernard and Tyler Macarages.
The club then awarded Angler of the Year to adults who scored the highest in tournaments. Lenny Galbraith stood in third place and David Blanton took second, while the dynamic duo, Josh Akers and Butch Galbraith claimed first place together.
After handing out awards, the club moved into voting on the schedule for 2021. The decided dates and fishing locations are as follows:
• Saturday, Feb. 27 and Sunday, Feb. 28 at the Mouth of Suwannee Bills Fish Camp.
• Saturday, March 13 at Lake Seminole.
• Saturday, March 27 at Lake Talquin.
• Saturday, April 10 and Sunday, April 11 at Lake George.
• Saturday, April 24 at Cherry Lake.
• Saturday, May 1 at Lake Seminole.
• Saturday, May 15 at Cherry Lake.
• Saturday, June 5 and Sunday, June 6 at Lake Seminole.
Once the schedule was decided on, the men held a drawing. Winners would go to a table covered in fishing tackle and tools and take their pick at what they wanted.
