According to a Madison Police Department (MPD) report, officers received a call on Tuesday, Sept. 6, concerning a gunshot victim headed to Madison County Memorial Hospital. After further inquiry, officers determined that an incident occurred at 211 Moore St., in Madison and proceeded to secure the scene. The investigation, which is ongoing, revealed that an argument ensued between a nephew and his uncle, which escalated to the point that the nephew fatally shot his uncle in the chest, according to witnesses. The suspect fled, and the MPD is in the process of activating warrants for an arrest.
The Madison County Sheriff's Office (MCSO) was called to secure the perimeter, with Captain Jason Whitfield, Sergeant Odell Livingston and Deputy Ryan Davis answering the call. MPD Detective Sergeant Mark Joost took the lead on the case, interviewing witnesses who were on the scene. Chief Reggie Alexander and Corporal Scott Newman were also on scene, working the case.
