The Madison County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) is once again teaming up with the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve to bring the Toys for Tots program to Madison County. This marks the 12th year for the program that helps bring happiness and holiday cheer to dozens of local children. Madison County Sheriff David Harper oversees the program with help from Tammy Tuten from the MCSO and Charles River CFO Kim Brandies.
New, unwrapped toys can be dropped off at the MCSO, located at 2364 W. US Hwy. 90, in Madison, and at Madison County Community Bank. Suggestions for toys are: bats, balls, gloves, backpacks, wallets, purses, books, radio-controlled cars, cosmetics, bath sets, dolls and board games.
The MCSO will be working with several organizations to identify Madison County children in need. The MCSO will begin taking applications for families who need assistance from Monday, Nov. 2, through Friday, Nov. 20. Applications are available from the MCSO, Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Applications must be completed by the parent or legal guardian. Information required in the application process includes:
• Proof of all household income
• Child’s social security card
• Original birth certificate
• Proof of Madison County residency if your ID does not have correct address (A bill with the correct address is sufficient.)
• Photo ID of the parent or guardian
Although every effort will be made to provide for as many children as possible, there can be no guarantee that every family signed up will receive gifts from the program.
