The Madison County Recreation Association, Inc. Board of Directors invites you to join them in celebrating their 20th of May 2023 Jubilee Celebration event. Similar to Down Home Days, this event is set to reflect on the traditions and rich history of the Madison community. Deloris Jones has been chosen to represent this years event as the Grand Marshal. Jones is a graduate of Bethune-Cookman University. She was nominated as Citizens of the Year and is a member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. She continues to serve on many other civic and social organizations and continues assisting with enhancing programs and services in Madison County.
On Friday, May 19, the Elegant Heritage Banquet, Silent Auction and Fashion Show will take place at Divine Events, located at 5696 NE Colin Kelly Hwy., in Madison. The event begins at 6 p.m., and Dr. Ray Mobley is the guest speaker. The cost to attend this event is $75 per ticket.
On Saturday, May 20, the fun will be kicked off by a parade taking place at 10 a.m., traveling from Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, located at 221 SW Martin Luther King Dr., in Madison, to the Madison County Recreation Center and the Old Suwannee River Junior College campus. Along with the parade, there will be various vendors, fun activities, games, musical performers, car show, cake auction and much more. Also on Saturday, the Alpha Kapp Alpha Sorority will host a memorial at noon, taking place at the Madison County Recreation Center, in Madison.
To wrap up the celebration, there will be a worship service on Sunday, May 21 at 11 a.m., located at Mt. Zion AME, 561 W Dade St., in Madison.
