According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), on Saturday, Aug. 12, at approximately 11 a.m., Trooper J. Clement responded to a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of NW US 221 and NW Reams St., in Greenville. A 2012 Ford F150, driven by 57-year-old Lynette Sirmon, of Greenville, pulled in front of a 2007 Kawasaki motorcycle as she attempted to turn east on NW Reams St. from NW US 221. The motorcycle, driven by 19-year-old Brandon Bailey, of Greenville, was unable to avoid the collision. The front of the truck collided with the side of the motorcycle, which continued in a northeastern direction until it struck a road sign.
Sirmon sustained no injuries, but Bailey's left leg was nearly detached due to the wreck. He was transported to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital via helicopter. Bailey's leg was amputated below the knee on Monday, Aug. 14. He is the son of Jeff and Janet Bailey, of Greenville. Alcohol was not involved in the accident. Sirmon was cited for failure to yield the right of way.
