On Wednesday, Sept. 20 at approximately 9:45 a.m., a single vehicle roll-over wreck occurred on I-10 sending one to the hospital.
Louis Marino, 85, of Tampa, Fl., was driving his 1994 Ford Explorer westbound on I-10 in the outside lane. Marino told the FHP Trooper that the vehicle had been stored at a storage area in Tampa, Fl., during Hurricane Irma. The rear of the vehicle was stored with food, which attracted ants inside the vehicle. As a result, the ants began biting Marino on his legs. Marino then lost control of the vehicle and ran off the road into the emergency lane. He then attempted to re-enter the road, over corrected the steering to the right, and overturned. The Ford Explorer came to a final rest right-side-up, facing north.
Marino was transported to Madison County Memorial Hospital with minor injuries. No charges were issued.
