Three were transported to Madison County Memorial Hospital with minor injuries after a drizzly morning wreck at 9:45 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 21.
Donald Voss, 78, of Lee, was traveling in the southbound lane of State Road 53 and attempted to turn left; an action that caused his vehicle to enter the northbound lane. Meanwhile, Ande Putnal, 23, of Madison, had the right-of-way as she traveled in the northbound lane and was unable to stop in time to avoid collision.
Voss maneuvered his 1999 Dodge Ram into Putnal’s path and his vehicle’s front left collided with the front left side of Putnal’s 2003 Ford F150.
Voss’ vehicle came to rest in the northbound lane facing southeast and Putnal’s vehicle continued traveling onto the west shoulder and came to a rest facing northwest.
Neither Putnal nor Voss were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the collision, however Voss’ passenger, Donald Gibson, 54, also of Lee, was properly buckled.
All three individuals were transported to MCMH and Voss is facing charges of failure to yield right of way.
