Wreck leaves two with serious injuries

Two were seriously injured in a single vehicle wreck on Thursday, Nov. 12 at 4:30 p.m. on State Road 53 South near SW Georgina Trail in Madison. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Jacob J. Zelenak, 21, of Live Oak was driving a 1992 Ford Mustang northbound on State Road 53 South. Zelenak failed to maintain control of the car. The car traveled onto the southbound lane of State Road 53 and then continued traveling onto the west shoulder of State Road 53. The front of the car collided with a culvert, rotated half a turn counterclockwise and overturned. The car continued to overturn and came to final rest facing southwest on the west shoulder of State Road 53. The passenger, James K. Zelenak, 53, of Live Oak was ejected from the vehicle. He suffered serious injuries and was transported to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital. The driver, Jacob Zelenak also received serious injuries and was transported to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital. Charges are pending further investigation. The FHP report states that alcohol use was not a factor in this wreck.
