According to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol, on the morning of Thursday, Sept. 14, at approximately 8:18 a.m., a brown 2006 Toyota Sienna, driven by Lance Whitmore, 41, of Pinetta, was traveling south on NE Colin Kelly Hwy. Whitmore slowed down to make a left-hand turn onto Eucalyptus St. A white 2012 Chrysler 200, driven by Matthew Skeens, 23, of Panacea, Fl. was also traveling south on NE Colin Kelly Hwy., behind Whitmore. According to a witness, Skeens slammed on his brakes, and the right front of his vehicle struck the left rear of Whitmore's vehicle due to Skeens attempting to take evasive action.
Two passengers of the Chrysler were taken to Madison County Memorial Hospital (MCMH) with minor injuries. They were, Shalei Fields, 23, of Sopchoppy, Fl. and an infant. The infant was in a child restraint seat. Both Whitmore and the passenger in the Sienna, Karen Whitmore, 43, of Pinetta, were transported to MCMH with minor injuries.
