On Thursday morning, Sept. 7, a 2000 Honda Accord, driven by 23-year-old Rhionna Gaal, of Lee, collided with a Polaris all-terrain vehicle (ATV), driven by 19-year-old Christopher Sapp, also of Lee. The collision occurred at approximately 8 a.m. near the intersection of Rutherford Rd. and Heather St. According to Florida Highway Patrol spokesperson Lieutenant James Shaw, Sapp was traveling north on Rutherford Rd., and Gaal was traveling south. Sapp failed to give enough room to the Accord, causing the front of his ATV to slam into the front of the car. Gaal and an underage passenger were transported to Southwest Georgia Medical Center for their injuries. Sapp was taken to Madison County Memorial Hospital for minor injuries. FHP Troopers were assisted by Madison Fire Rescue, Madison County EMS, and the Madison County Sheriff's Office. Sapp was cited for driving on the wrong side of the roadway and improper operation of an all-terrain vehicle on public roads.
