Failure to use due caution resulted in a car losing control and striking a large tree.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) report, on Saturday, Oct. 21, at approximately 4:10 p.m., 23 year-old Kayla Pippin was driving her 2005 Ford Taurus westbound down County Road 360A at 60 mph. Pippin entered into a left-hand curve, failing to negotiate the curve. Pippin's vehicle then ran off of the roadway onto the north shoulder with the right side tires.
Pippin overcorrected, attempting to reenter the roadway. Pippin's vehicle began to rotate counterclockwise and crossed the roadway to the south shoulder. The Taurus continued to slide backwards into the tree line where the left rear struck a large oak tree. Pippin's Taurus came to a final stop against the oak tree. Pippin had one passenger with her.
Pippin was charged with failure to use due care. No injuries were reported.
