The Florida Department of Health in Madison and Hamilton counties has lifted a precautionary health advisory issued on August 30. The City of Valdosta, Georgia reported a spill made up of a combination of storm water and untreated sewage that overflowed into Sugar Creek, which flows into the Withlacoochee River. Recent river water samples taken by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection indicates the river water meets surface water quality standards ensuring the public they may resume water-related activities.
