A car rolled into Lake Francis on Friday, June 6 at 12:50 p.m. and was submerged in the water.
According to the Madison Police Department report, Jonathan James Kelly, 18, parked his 1995 Chevrolet Lumina on the shoulder of the roadway, facing west towards the water. When Kelly was unable to start the vehicle, he put it in neutral and attempted to push the vehicle up the hill toward the roadway.
The weight was too much for Kelly to handle due to the steep shoulder and the vehicle came rolling back towards the driver. The vehicle ran into the lake when the driver was unable to stop the vehicle. The front end of the vehicle up to the driver’s side door was submerged in the water at Lake Francis.
MPD did not report any injuries at the time of the crash.
