On Monday, Sept. 22, at approximately 3:27 p.m., Madison 911 Center received a report of a vehicle on fire in a hay field north of Lee. Lee Community Fire Department and Madison Fire Rescue were dispatched to the fire. Before units arrived, citizens on scene reported that the hay field was now on fire and ammunition in the burning pick-up truck was going off. Division of Forestry was requested and they responded. Madison County Sheriff’s Office also had a deputy at the burning field. With cooperation of all agencies, the fire was controlled and no structures were in danger. The pick-up truck was a total loss and there will be an economic impact to the hay field owner because of the loss of product. No injuries were reported.
