Major David Harper of the Madison County Sheriff’s Office reports that on Sunday, February 12, around 8:00 p.m. deputies were dispatched to SW Church Avenue, in Greenville, in reference to gun shots being fired in the area.
Deputies arrived at the intersection of SW Church Avenue and SW Obadiah Street and were flagged down by a male who reported that one or more vehicles drove by and fired several shots at him and the group he was standing with. Deputies located two victims at this intersection who had been shot and were in need of immediate medical attention.
As deputies were trying to render aid, and secure the scene, more gunshots were heard less than a block away on Obadiah Street, near the intersection of Cook Avenue. Several individuals began yelling that two more people had just been shot. Additional deputies were already responding to the area and were dispatched to the second scene. Deputies located three additional gunshot victims there.
Deputies secured the second scene while medical personnel stabilized the victims for transport to the receiving hospital.
Madison County Investigators arrived on-scene and requested assistance from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement Mobile Crime Lab. The Madison County Sheriff’s Office and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement are investigating this shooting as a joint investigation.
