Update: Early Morning Wreck Leaves One Dead

On Tuesday, August 12, at approximately 6:45 a.m., a two-vehicle collision left one dead and one transported to the Madison County Memorial Hospital for injuries. The wreck occurred on SR 145, in the Hanson area.
Although the official FHP report had not been released as of press time, it was reported to this newspaper that the victim had been identified as Jessica Pyles, a nurse at the Madison County Memorial Hospital. She was pronounced dead at the scene, it was also reported the driver of the other vehicle was Kyle Cruce, who was transported to Madison County Memorial Hospital.

Official FHP Report:

A two-vehicle collision on Tuesday, August 12, at 6:20 a.m., on SR 145 near NE Daisy Street, left one deceased and one being transported to Madison County Memorial Hospital with minor injuries.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Richard Kyle Cruce, 52, of Madison, was traveling northbound on SR 145 in his 2006 Toyota pickup while Jessica Pyles, 36, of Hahira, Ga. was traveling southbound in her 2009 Toyota 4-Runner SUV.

Cruce traveled left of the centerline into the path of Pyles and the left front of his vehicle collided with the left front of her vehicle. After impact, Cruce rotated counter clockwise onto the east shoulder of SR 145 and came to a final rest facing northwest. Pyles’ vehicle rotated counter clockwise onto the west shoulder of SR 145 and came to a final rest facing southwest.

Pyles was pronounced deceased at the scene at 6:48 a.m. by a paramedic. Charges are pending upon further investigation.

The Florida Highway Patrol was assisted on scene by Madison County Sheriff’s Office, Madison County Fire Rescue and Madison County E.M.S.

The crash investigator is Trooper Matthew Boatwright and the homicide investigator is Corporal Carlton Yarborough.
