On Sunday, Jan. 14, two men were found to have gunshot wounds in the leg after a vehicle pulled up beside the victims and began shooting.
According to a report by Madison County Sheriff's Office (MCSO) Major David Harper, deputies were dispatched to NE Elizabeth Street on Sunday, Jan. 14, at 4:14 a.m., in response to a report of a gunshot victim. The deputies were informed that one victim was located in the parking lot of the building that formerly held Shelby's Restaurant. Upon arrival, MCSO deputies made contact with a male victim with a gunshot wound to the leg. Madison County EMS was notified to respond and assess the severity of the injury. The victim provided little cooperation but reported that he was driving his vehicle on Valdosta Hwy., near Brickyard Pond Rd., at approximately 2:30 a.m., when another vehicle with bright lights drove up along side his vehicle. The unknown occupants then began shooting. Once deputies were done with questioning, Madison County EMS transported the victim to Madison County Memorial Hospital.
At approximately 8:05 a.m., on Sunday, Jan. 14, MCSO deputies received a call from the Leon County Sheriff's Office in reference to a male who checked himself into the Tallahassee Memorial Hospital, also suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg.
The second victim also provided little cooperation but reported that he was a passenger in the car with the first victim at the time of the shooting. The second victim stated that he was also shot in the leg. Neither victims provided a description of the suspect's vehicle. Deputies were able to locate where the shooting most likely took place and processed the scene.
Both victims were treated for non-life threatening injuries.
