On Tuesday, Oct. 5, Grace and Cloth Mercantile, formerly Southern Grace, held their grand opening to introduce their name change and expansion in store size and product line. Kristen Brown, the owner, established her store in 2013 after she graduated college. Brown has a unique love for the world of retail, and she wanted to put that passion into a store of her own. Brown is proud to offer her store to Madison as a way for townspeople to shop local. “It's been amazing to have the support of Madison,” she stated.
Grace and Cloth Mercantile is a faith based store, inspired by Ephesians 2:8-10, “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God. For we are His masterpiece, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.”
Grace and Cloth Mercantile is proud to work with many organizations to help those in need. With each purchase that is made, a portion of that profit is donated to those organizations. The many handbags and purses that are available for purchase at Grace and Cloth Mercantile are made by women who are looking to get themselves off of the streets or out of a difficult and endangering lifestyle or situation.
Brown is looking forward to further expansion and the addition of more product lines. She is also looking to join forces with more organizations to give back to the community.
Grace and Cloth Mercantile is beautifully designed, and is full of gorgeous clothing items that keep up with modern fashion, while still remaining modest. They also have shoes, jewelry and accessories, baby clothes, home goods, personal care products and a section for wedding registry items.
Grace and Cloth Mercantile is open Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and is located at 224 SW Range Ave., in Madison.
