Not to be confused with the Madison Youth Ranch (a program of the First United Methodist Churches of Florida), the Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranch Program began in 1957 as the Florida Sheriffs Boys Ranch, a way to help disadvantaged children and steer them toward more productive lives as citizens.
Today, the program has evolved into the Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranches, Inc., with locations around the state, and a near-100 percent success rate with the children it serves. About 100,000 children have passed through the program since its inception.
The Madison County Sheriff’s Office held a Valentine’s Banquet fundraiser at the Pinetta Community Center, Feb. 14th and 135 to 140 Madison folks came on out to enjoy great food and the live entertainment provided by members of the MCSO, and have their photos made for the occasion – a fine Valentine’s evening under a full moon, no less – all while raising money for a great cause and making a difference in the lives of children served by the Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranch Program.
Hats off to the MCSO for all their hard work in bringing together an event that was truly a labor of love.
